Character Name: Valorem Gadriel
Character Canon: Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2
Canon Point: End of Space Marine 2
Age: somewhere between 200 and 10,000 years old.  The game devs say 10,000, GW says 200.  Easiest split?  He was created in the Ultima Founding 10,000 years ago, served as a Greyshield, and then spent 9,000 years in suspended animation, thawed out to serve in the Indomitus Crusade about 200 years ago.  

Crime:  Faithlessness  He is not guilty of this, but it will drive him nuts to be accused of it, both in a religions sense, and in not holding faith with his brothers. 

Background:
Here are some useful wiki links because to understand Gadriel you have to understand a bit about Warhammer.  In short: far future, humanity is beset on all sides by aliens trying to exterminate it, and the Emperor has been rotting on the Golden Throne for 10 millennia. Technology is evil, but also good; sorcery is also evil, but also good.  Everything's a mess and there's a ton of body horror.

Personality:

Like all Ultramarines, Gadriel is a bit of a religious fanatic. Imagine a paladin, but with more war crimes.  Like all of his kind, he has been psycho-indoctrinated to believe that his mission in life is to die in service to the Emperor. Anything less than that is heresy.  His sworn enemies are heretics (anyone who does not believe the Emperor is humanity's hope) and xenos (any alien species), and especially traitor legions--other Space Marines who betrayed the Emperor.  Elves are...on the fence. His own chapter has a complicated relation with the Eldar (the good elves) but that's about it. 

He is fiercely loyal to his brothers (fellow Ultramarines) and his squad.  Gadriel has recently lost his entire squad alongside whom he had fought for 20 years--and this still bothers him, because he feels that if he had been there, if HE had been allowed to lead the mission instead of Titus, they might be alive.  He has significant guilt from this, and his Lieutenant's habit of tearing him away from the rest of his squad.  While Ultramarines tend to die, he takes losses in his squad personally because he feels responsible for them. Once he has made friends, though, he will be fiercely loyal and protective of them.  

Gadriel believes his kind (Primaris Adeptus Astartes) are superior to humans. It's one of the reasons he wanted to become an Astartes to begin with, to be better.   In every way that he thinks matters (strength speed skill healing) he is superior in all ways to normal humans. He has a canon history of viewing humans as less capable (notably Cadians). It's not their fault they're not as competent as Astartes, but they're just...not on his level.  Though he has sworn to protect humanity, as an abstract, he doesn't actually know any 'mortals' so it is simply an abstraction. His job is to fight and die where he is told to. Being without some of his abilities is going to really cause him to question himself and what he knows about that.  

There's a moment in canon (you have to second as Gadriel and have someone else main as Titus) where the Chaos sorcerer mocks him about descending from liars and thieves and it really, like REALLY gets to him.  This is why he clings to his status as an Astartes and is a bit uptight, because that's clearly one of his big insecurities. Attacks on his honor will hit home.   

He is a creative thinker, but he's not particularly self-starting. He solves problems, but he needs to be given the problem (the mission objective) first, and then he can come up with some (probably insane and brutal) way of accomplishing it. He needs someone to tell him what to do, and he'll figure out a way to do it.  Without someone bossing him around, he'll feel lost.  

He's not great with emotions.  He never smiles in canon (I mean why would you, this is Warhammer), and knows that anything that could gain him censure by the Chaplain (such as talking back to his commander) will get him severely punished, so he tends to process emotions through, you guessed it, violence.  Not on the person he is mad at but at anything around him that looks like a xenos or heretic. 

He is also suspicious.  One has to be, as a Space Marine, always on guard against heresy or corruption, but also because a) his Lieutenant was acting sketchy in ways that seemed pretty heretical (and that got Elion killed) and b) Gadriel was fooled by Imurah into trying to kill his Lieutenant.  He hates that he got fooled, even though he knows the forces of Chaos are crafty and masters of deception.  He will be doubly on guard against getting fooled again.  He is especially wary of anything that seems like magic, psychic ability, or sorcery.

Abilities:
Here are his canon abilities as a Space Marine.  Think of Space Marines like a bunch of 12 year old boys got together and tried to decide what the coolest stuff EVER!! would be to give to a space marine. These are the abilities per canon: you mods know your game best, as to what might be worldbreaking or metaplot breaking or not and I will abide by your decision. 

I've tried to divide his abilities into sensible categories, for your sanity 

Things that make him hard to kill:

Belisarian Furnace--when he's near death, the Furnace will basically release a bunch of chemicals into his bloodstream to revive him. it does not make him UNkillable, only that he has to, essentially, be killed twice in the same encounter.  After use it is dormant for several days.  

Sinew Coils--these not only increase his strength but actually make him have a sort of internal armor.  He can be stabbed, but the coils will prevent a wound from penetrating as deeply. 

Larraman's Organ--this is like 'super healing'. It does not regenerate lost limbs, but it can stop bleeding and even heal broken bones within minutes.  

Oolitic kidney--this filters out any poisons or toxins he may consume. He will slide into a temporary coma like state if it is used. It's also why he can't get drunk. 

Things that are just weird:

Lyman's Ear--he can focus his hearing on one exchange, and also track people, say, through walls, with his hearing. 

Multilung--he has a third lung! Yay!  This helps him breathe underwater and in toxic environments. 

Betcher's Glands--who thought acid venom spit was a good idea? Amar Astartes herself, that's who.  He can trigger the glands in his mouth. It's gross. And stupid. 

Praeomnor--this is like a pre-stomach stomach, which, in combination with the Betcher's Glands, allow him to eat just about anything. Including rocks.  

Omophagos--the 'remembrancer'. If he eats flesh of an animal or person, or drinks their blood (he's no son of Sanguinius but that's where their mutation comes from) he can 'learn' what they know.  This can be anything from vague impressions to exact things like codes  to something in canon. That's ridiculous so maybe just 'general impression'. 

Neuroglottis--can track through taste

Things that don't do much except keep him alive:

Secondary heart and Haemastamen: a larger pump and more blood supply for the big boy body.  Similarly the biscopea and ossmodula are there to boost his muscle and bone strength. 

Occulobe: good distance vision, also he can be hypnoindoctrinated through this

Sus-an and Catalepsean nodes--he can put himself into suspended animation and he can stay up for long periods of time (IIRC in Warhammer canon the longest is a month) without degrading awareness/abilities, by putting different parts of his brain to sleep. 

Mucranoid and melachromic organs: a protective waxy layer on his skin that protects from chemicals, etc, also, he can tan. 

Black Carapace--this implant allows him to interface with his armor directly.

OVERALL: he is a big, heavy, human tank of a transhuman.  He can run faster than humans, lift more, and take more damage.  He has been training in live combat scenarios with all his weapons so he is more than competent at them. 

Inventory:
Mark X Power Armor It's very heavy, ceramite coated plasteel armor. It does have abilities to dispense combat stimms to him to keep him alive in case of injury.  At his canon pull points, he does not have jump jets.  

Chainsword and bolt gun. Chainswords are...chainsaws that are swords! How gratifyingly fun! A bolt gun is basically a heavy pistol.

Questions: Gadriel in canon is about 9 feet tall and about 700 lbs in weight, without armor.  In canon it's a running joke/reference/thing that they're too big and too heavy to do some 'normal' things. (It's also a running joke that they smell weird). I may have missed it, but I did look, to see what the height issue might be.  I'm obviously okay with making him smaller, but still at the tall end of human normal range?
  
Because Gadriel can be kind of...a lot, I sometimes keep his meta a little on the lighter side, just to keep balance. Like all people exposed to violence on a daily basis, he is stuffed full of trauma so I will be diligent with CW.
